Brendan Gets Up On the Wakeboard

( See Pictures )

Brendan got up on the wakeboard, today, unfortunately we were videoing and not taking photos, so I had to capture a frame from the video

Jarrad is starting to get some height in his jumps,

though his

spills are also getting more fancy too!

Kylie nearly got up, she was very close, so we’re expecting great things next time we go!

Chris is getting better, and also managed some

classic spills!

We were late getting in the water, as the boat was still being worked on when we went to pick it up, and as Shannon had to leave by 11:30 she didn’t get a chance to visit the sharks

Chris Has a Go & Jarrad Crashes!

(See the Pictures & Video)

Chris came wake boarding, with us today, unfortunately the boat played up on him, just as he was getting up ( a carry over from the damaged prop last week).

Jarrad, had a few attempts at doing a back flip,

the stacks look impressive on the video

Kylie still had trouble, and Shannon overcame her morbid fear of fresh water sharks, which was just as well, as every time she just let go of the rope we left her in the water for longer 😉

Jarrad Can Wakeboard

(See Pictures)

Took the boat down to the Shoalhaven River, today. 20091017_Wakeboarding_Shoalhaven River_(5 of 56)

Jarrad & Shannon came along,  and the boat easily handled the wakeboarding.

Jarrad surprised us all, by wakeboarding quite well, even clearing the wake by about a metre! (see the last photo below)

it was a little cold, so Kylie didn’t try, but Shannon and Brendan did, though because of the cold ( and a strange fear of sharks) they didn’t try for long

20091017_Wakeboarding_Shoalhaven River_(38 of 56)So Jarrad ended up wakeboarding all the way up past “Salt Water” (his arms will be very sore tomorrow!)

Then beached it for some lunch .

We went up, almost to

Grady’s but then hit some submerged rocks and damaged the soft aluminium prop.20091017_Wakeboarding_Shoalhaven River_(28 of 56) Though I didn’t realise it was damaged until we got back to the ramp, as we were only idling along when it hit

By now Jarrad had had enough, not to mention a sore neck, and back,

from his numerous stacks, so  we headed back to the ramp, where we watched Kylie

PS: Just heard this morning that both Jarrad & Shannon are very sore 😉

Our Boat Finally Gets Wet

Well it wasn’t the best day for it, threatening storm clouds and a gusty southerly, which chopped up the lake, but at least we had a chance to try the boat out.

We didn’t go out for long, as the it was very bumpy once you got out a bit from Oak Flats, with the wind.

The boat seamed to get up and go well, and was up to 45kts very quickly, though it was heavy to turn across the waves, which probably had more to do with the weather.

We headed over to Kanahooka, then turned around and headed back in, where we discovered that Kylie couldn’t back up the boat trailer to save her life ;-)  After dropping her off, and doing slow circles in the lake, while Brendan and I watched her turn the trailer first one way then the next ( and then repeated this over and over) until finally I couldn’t take it any more, so beached the boat and backed it in myself. By which time the boat had spun itself around with the wind, and I had a devil of a time straightening it up to the trailer

Think we’ll book her in for lessons on reversing trailers 😉

Kylie was a little embarrassed, and very frustrated with herself, which was made worse by the fact there were a few people waiting (im) patiently to bring their boats in

Horsley Hail Storm

Just sat through a mighty hail storm, went on literally for 1/2 an hour, and covered everything! Looked like snow, just lucky it was reasonably small. only about 1cm.

NB: Ignore the date on some of the photos, it was on the 5th Oct

Skiing At Perisher: Day 8

(See Pictures)

We said goodbye to the snow & made our way home, stopping at Fyshwick,

but they had a fire alert & were all evacuated, so we drove thru to Golburn where we had luch at an award winning bakery.

Brendan & I had our photo taken at the big merino.

We arrived home & unpacked the car, said hello to the animals & found a large tree had fallen down over our fence. We took about 2 hours to cut it up & clean up the yard..just what we wanted to do after a 5 hour drive !

I think all the washing will wait.

Skiing At Perisher: Day 7

(See Pictures)
Up at some god awful hour, as we were moving rooms we had to re pack the car & take all the gear with us. We left at 6.50 & made our way up to perisher again for the last time..We got a fairly decent park..not too much walking thru the car park today. Had a quick bite to eat & hit the slope. It was cold but sunny & with no wind.

Fresh snow. David couldn’t have asked for a better day. We skied MT P again & as we were going down Leichardt I was knocked over by another skier! I was now wet as the snow had gone down my jacket..but hey I didn’t do any damage to myself.. We made our way back to jump city again for Brendan as well as going to the top, pretty valley etc. We met for a quick lunch at the pub ( there was skiing to be done!. ).
(Continued.]

After numerous runs ( my legs were killing )  we went back to jump city & played around there for an hour or so, until Brendan had a fall & hurt himself while going over

a jump so David could take a photo..its all Dads fault!  By this stage I think we had all had enough any how. The cars were parked on the side of the road all the way down to Sponars Chalet – approx 7km away.there were lots of people here

today..no way would I walk that! We went back to the villa to shower & get ready to go out again. Fulv & Raychel picked us up on the way. Clancey’s was booked out so we went to the Brumby bar,The food was nice here as well. We said our goodbyes to Andrew, Linda, Kyra & Hayden (they were going back to Adelaide until next time) & went back to our room, where I slept so soundly I couldn’t even tell if David was snoring.!

Skiing At Perisher: Day 6

(See Pictures)
Up extra early as we had to pack up our gear & clean the room before we left for the day. Yep seems everyone was right.another awful day, can’t see us skiing but we

did the usual..drive up & have a look, sit inside & wait..nah  no skiing today..all the lifts were on hold, except for the v8 & you couldn’t even see it, the wind was blowing in all direction & it started to snow ! David was not happy, so being the wonderful wife that I am, I said we could stay the extra nights so we could ski Saturday

(everyone was saying that this would be the best ski day all season!)  We made a few calls ,1 place was $480 per night with no Saturday available.so after checking further avenues we decided to go back to the lodge & check with the neighbours.no such luck..BUT then we went to the siesta villas down the road from the lodge, they had a room on the Friday night & offered us the drivers room (2 single beds, small & old) for the Saturday, we only needed it to sleep, so we decided to take it.
(Continued.]

With the accommodation settled we went back to town for lunch & walked up to Clancy’s  to book for tea..while we were there we had a few drinks.it was nice & cosy inside, outside it was wet & miserable. We took our gear over to the villas & settled in before going out to tea.The food was really nice & not over priced. Everyone agreed that we would need to leave early in the morning..if it is going to be as good as they think there will be lots of people.
